Welcome back to our Chakra Series. This week we are wrapping up with the last major Chakra, the Crown Chakra! As we explore the energy surrounding this area in the body we will begin to build a connection between the mind and consciousness. In other words, we are developing a deeper understanding of the health of our bodies and what it means to connect and relate to Source Energy/God. Let’s get started!
Chakras (Quick Review)
Chakras (Sanskrit for wheel or cycle) are energetic centers that are located in the mid-line of the body along the spinal column. These energy centers are derived from eastern philosophies such as Hinduism and Buddhism. They govern the subtle body which is affected by the mind, intellect, and ego. The body will thrive emotionally, physically, and spiritually when the Chakras are energetically balanced. Specific negative life experiences, emotions or thoughts can throw off the subtle body and chakras may become blocked or imbalanced.
According to this eastern philosophy, blockages can have a negative effect on the physical or emotional body and can cause physical/emotional ailments or dis-ease. These ailments may arise when specific chakras become blocked or imbalanced. Each chakra is associated with a specific color, area of the body or specific organs, as well as specific feelings/emotions. Learning about each chakra will help gain a deeper understanding of the unique energies and how they affect the health of your body!
The Crown Chakra- Sahaswara
The Crown Chakra is called Sahaswara in Sanskrit. Sahaswara means ‘one thousand’ and will often represent the 1000 petaled lotus. This is the energy center where we embrace God, our maker, divine source. Through meditation and prayer we connect with this energy and build a relationship of trust, hope and gratitude for ALL that is.
This Chakra represents pure conscious energy. We derive happiness, good health and wisdom from the journey of practicing and connecting with this energy– our Source energy, God, Maker. The Crown Chakra is where spirituality is expressed.
When the Crown Chakra is in balance a person will be more open to the Divine, have a deeper access to the unconscious and subconscious, have a more integrated view of life and our mortality and also our immortality.
When the Crown Chakra is deficient a person may have a of lack of joy and creativity, experience difficulty in making decisions, be uncommunicative, lack a sense of higher purpose in life, not feel creative, may not feel connected to others or even to themselves, be ‘lost’ spiritually.
