Alleviate Dry Skin

Jun 14, 2021 | Dermatology, Health Tips, Natural Body Care, Skin

Hello Elite beauties!  How are you holding up with this DRY weather?  Are you starting to get that summer itch? We sure are!  Let’s take a look how we can alleviate dry skin QUICK!

We have an acid mantle that covers the skin and is a naturally secreted, thin, protective film that is made up of oils, fatty acids, lactic acid, and amino acids. This protective mantle keeps our skin cells tight, moisturized, and water proof.  There are several factors that contribute to dry skin like diet, weather, lifestyle, etc.  It is important to keep the acid mantle in tact and MOISTURIZED.  Otherwise you can be susceptible to bacteria, viruses, and skin irritations.

Many people reach for a lotion to moisturize their skin, however, this method tends to temporarily relieve dryness.  Also, there are many lotions on the market that contain harmful chemicals.  This is why we like to suggest Sweet Almond Oil.  It is a fantastic method to help rejuvenate and moisturize the skin after bathing while your skin is still a little damp.  Try adding a little lavender essential oil to the Almond Oil for a light natural fragrance.  You can also try other oils to help moisturize the skin like Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Apricot Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, or Squalane Oil.  The key here is to keep it simple– the skin is our largest organ and less is best. You can even clean your face with these oils! Sounds weird, but try it, you might like the way it leaves your skin soft, clean and moisturized.

Now that we gave you a tip for topical solutions, let’s look deeper and talk about INTERNAL solutions for dry skin. Taking an internal oil like an Omega 3 supplement can do wonders for the skin!  Not to mention it will act like internal lubricant for the joints, bones, organs and so on.  Primrose Oil is also a great supplement to help keep your skin moisturized and glowing!  It can also help balance hormones and promote restful sleep.  As you can see there are lots of side benefits to taking an Omega oil internally.

Some other helpful vitamins to help keep your skin moisturized are vitamins A, D, E, and K2.  Vitamin D plays a key roll in healthy moisturized skin.  If you don’t get 10-15 minutes of sun every day during the morning or evening then it may be beneficial to supplement with vitamin D.  It also helps maintain a healthy immune system and is probably one of the best supplements to implement during the winter months when bacteria and viruses come out to play.

What’s your healthy skin regimen?  Let us know by emailing us and we can share it with our other customers! We have to help each other out– living in a dry desert is all about survival with the help of community!

As always, do what you feel is best for YOUR body– if you aren’t sure, ask your doctor.  We are health ENTHUSIASTS not licensed practitioners.
